Mary McDonnell, a local artist, will give a talk on the life and artwork of Christiane Gourrier Geffers. Christiane (b. Paris, France) lived in Barryville since the 1970’s. Her life centered around Sunshine Hall Free Library’s French Club, painting and cooking. Christiane’s paintings will be on display.
A number of great ghost stories have been set in Sullivan County. But, not all Sullivan County ghost stories are fictional. John Conway examines some venerable ghost stories that are based on actual historical events.
John Conway is an author, and the Official Sullivan County Historian. He has published a regular column in the Times Herald-Record and several titles with the Purple Mountain Press.

I hope everyone enjoyed themselves as much as I did this past Saturday (August 18), at our dinner dance at the Catskill Mountain Resort. There was plenty of good food and good music by the Somerville Brothers. We had a great turnout. And, we made some money for the library, too. So many people contributed in so many ways. Thank you all.
